Kids experience a different kind of summer camp

ATHENS, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It's the third year for the McMinn County Youth Law Enforcement Academy where kids learn what it takes to be a deputy.

Thirty-five kids from 4th through 6th grade will spend a week working with Sheriff Joe Guy and other deputies learning the basics of law enforcement.

All week long kids have the chance to learn about firearm safety, patrol techniques, and crime scene investigations.

But that's not all; they work on physical training and prepare for a mock court trial in front of a McMinn County Judge.
