Knoxville Ladies of Charity host annual fundraiser

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Knoxville Ladies of Charity held its "Get on Board" fundraiser Sunday night at Southern Depot.

Guests paid $75 for a ticket for train car tours, dinner, entertainment, and door prizes.

Whether it's running a food pantry and thrift store or helping folks pay their utility bills, the organization is there for the less fortunate.

Organizers say they couldn't do it without a lot of community support.

"Two hundred or so volunteers work throughout the year processing clothes, helping people, interviewing them, packing the food bags," says Nancy Scheurer.

If you'd like to help out, you can stop by the organization's office on Baxter Avenue or click the link in this article.

They've been around for 72 years.
