Knoxville grant to help manage archives

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A grant from the Tennessee Secretary of State's office will help the City of Knoxville with the organization of local government records.

A release from Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett says the $5,000 grant is intended to improve the storage conditions and accessibility of the records.

The City will be able to buy supplies and equipment to help restore and preserve records and make records more accessible to the public.

The Secretary of State's office stated in the release that $50,000 has been distributed per year since 1999 to local governments across the state to help with archive managment
