PEARL, MS. (release) -- Aaron Northcraft pitched five scoreless innings for the Mississippi Braves as they won the series finale over the Tennessee Smokies 6-0 at Trustmark Park. The Braves won four of the five games in the series over the Smokies, the first team to do so this season.

Tennessee (15-14) was shutout for the second straight game and fourth time in seven contests. They have not scored a run in their last 22 innings played.

Mississippi (19-11) scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the second. With two outs, Barrett Kleinknecht brought home Shawn McGill with an RBI single for a 1-0 Braves lead.

The Braves added three unearned runs to their total in the 4th. Edward Salcedo reached on a Christian Villanueva two-base throwing error to begin the inning and scored on a Kyle Russell ground-rule double. Later in the frame, Northcraft helped his cause lining a two-run single to right field to double the advantage to 4-0. The hit marked the second straight game that the Smokies have surrendered a two-run hit to the opposing starting pitcher.

Salcedo made it 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning with a line drive single to left field that scored Christian Marrero.

Kleinknecht picked up his second RBI of the game in the bottom of the 8th with an RBI single to score McGill and make it 6-0 Mississippi.
