SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Sevier County Utility District opens the county's first natural gas fueling station.

Governor Bill Haslam joined the Sevier County Utility District for the ribbon cutting at the new S·C·U·D Natural Gas Vehicle Fueling Station. Dollywood announced during the ribbon cutting that it would partner with SCUD to provide transportation for the new DreamMore Resort that opens in 2015.

“Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort is proud to partner with our local utility, Sevier County Utility District, as we begin to identify ways to best accommodate our guests’ needs,” said Amy Owenby, Dollywood’s Vice President of Hospitality. “This partnership better serves our environment. The beautiful Smoky Mountains are an integral part of Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort, and we endeavor to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible.”

This is the first public NGV fueling station in our region.

Natural gas contains less carbon than gasoline or diesel fuel and is considered to be the cleanest fossil fuel due to lower emissions. CNG-powered vehicles also produce approximately 80 percent less nitrogen oxide and 90 percent less particulates than gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicles.

Dollywood bought 6 trolleys which will be the main transportation for guests between the new resort at the theme parks inside Dollywood.
