New doughnut shop turns heads in Sevierville

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It's the first of its kind in Sevierville -- a design your own doughnut shop right in the heart of Historic Downtown.

The shop is in the old Cobblers building, which has been vacant for some time. Many people in Sevierville hope this helps add to the downtown experience.

"We love it and we actually have two businesses here. In the day we have the donut shop and in the night we have a banquet hall," said Jennifer Dyer, owner.

"This area is phenomenal; you come down here and you walk the streets, and you get to know the people who work and live here and then at night when you have the gorgeous courthouse lit up. It's just a great great place to be," Dyer said.

And this first of its kind shop could be the first of many changes - the Sevierville Commons Association is working on a long range plan to improve the downtown area. They hope to turn the area into something like Knoxville's Market Square.
