New fire station eases fears

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A new fire station in Seymour is easing the minds of people in the community.

The new Knox County station will be home to a new fire engine, ambulance, and mini pumper. The truck replaces one the fire department has used for 30 years.

Firefighters will now be able to live at the station, which will mean faster response times to emergencies.

"Typical volunteer fire department. A lot of your time is eaten up by getting to the station and starting the trucks. We can reduce that by half," said Seymour Fire Chief Kevin Nunn.

Chief Nunn says it will take crews about 5 minutes to get to Chapman Highway from the new station.
