Pawsitive Impact at Piedmont Elementary

Teachers at a Jefferson County Elementary School are taking extra steps to better influence students' lives. The Piedmont Elementary School teachers have formed a group called Pawsitive Impact.

They help families with items they may need throughout the year like food, shoes and clothes. They raise the money through creative, fun things like paying ten dollars to wear jeans for a week, and a Christmas store where parents can shop for presents.

Kindergarten Teacher Ragan Long says, "It's important for our families to know we care about their kids beyond their academic needs. So we care about them emotionally, physically because all of that works together to make their academic success."

They have a food distribution twice a year for families and hand out coats for kids who don't have them.
