UPDATE: Sen. Campfield asks for investigation into robocalls

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Sen. Stacey Campfield asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to look into robocalls many voters recently received.

He said, "It's a pretty darn short list of people who are going to personally benefit by doing a negative push pull on me. I'll let the TBI figure that out but I think the list of people who are going to personally benefit is pretty darn short."

According to state law -- more than 3 calls within an hour to one person is considered harassment.

Local 8 news got several reports Tuesday night of robocalls concerning Sen. Stacey Campfield.

We're told some people received as many as a dozen phone calls in a short period of time.

Campfield says he has nothing to do with the calls. He says people told him the calls would continue until the person said they have an unfavorable view of the State Senator.

There's no word yet on the source of those calls.
