Report some Twitter resets some users' passwords after possible breach

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Twitter has reportedly sent some of its users emails notifying them that their passwords have been reset and asking them to log on to reset theirs.

The popular tech blog TechCrunch, which posted the story, said its account was hacked, leading to spam messages. It cited another blog which said such emails tend to go out after a large number of accounts are hacked.

The author added that Twitter is receiving additional criticism for the form of the email, which includes a link to reset the password. He explained that such emails with embedded links are often used in phishing scams. (click the link to see a copy of the letter)

In this case though, the blog says, the email is real.
