RALEIGH, NC (WVLT) -- The rockslide just over the North Carolina border that shut down one lane of Interstate 40, heading into Tennessee has been cleared and the highway reopened, according to the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation.
The slide happened around 7:45 p.m. NCDOT officials said on their website. Engineers were called to the scene immediately to begin assessing the damage and figure out the best way to clear it.
NCDOT posted a tweet Tuesday morning showing the cleared roadway and saying the road was open.
