Salon pampers breast cancer survivors and helps more women

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Knoxville beauty salon will spend Monday pampering breast cancer survivors, while helping make sure more women have access to the screenings so vital to early detection.

The 11th Annual Hands On event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Total Works SalonSpa. For a $60 donation, you can sponsor a breast cancer survivor who will be treated to two of these salon services: facial, facial, mini massage, hair cut, manicure, pedicure, make-up application.

Appointments should be made by calling 865-690-5654.

"Everyone at The Total Works Salon will pamper breast cancer survivors on their special day," said Kelly Baker, founder of the event. "This is an opportunity for people to honor their family and friends who have been touched by breast cancer."

All of the proceeds from the event will go toward the Kim Rowden Breast Cancer Memorial Fund, a non-profit organization that provides free breast screenings for women without insurance or financial resources. (link)

"Our goal is to raise money for the Kim Rowden Breast Cancer Memorial Fund, which provides free mammograms for women who can't afford them," added Baker.

HandsOn is presented by The Total Works SalonSpa and Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Cancer. Other sponsors include Women's Health Specialists, All Occasions Party Rentals, and Bradley's Chocolates.
