NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- With families coming together to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, the Tennessee State Library and Archives will help families dig through their personal histories.
On Saturday, State Librarian and Archivist Chuck Sherill and their research staff will provide tips on how to get started in genealogy research so families can learn more about their ancestral bonds.
The free event will be held at the library's downtown building on 7th Avenue North all day Saturday.
Sherill and his staff will outline the different methods for tracing family ties, including using family records, oral history, courthouse filings, library sources, web sites and other material. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own notes and information about their family history.
