UT opens doors for fans to meet seats

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee opened the stadium doors on Thursday for fans to see where their seats would be for this years football season.

Meet Your Seat was held all day and folks had a chance to see how their seat would look and had a chance to change if they wanted too.

Fans say they're excited for a new era.

"I'm just excited to have a fresh start with Butch Jones and the boys have grown up since that bad last season," said Anna Hurdle.

"It'll be interesting to see how the new coach does, they've been recruiting really well but it's kind of like what are you going to do on the field putting new schemes in," said Ben Conaway.

Many sports stadiums are struggling to get fans in seats. UT says they're pleased with preseason ticket sales and have special packages cheaper than normal.

"We've got some good packages some good things we've rolled out this year. We have a $300 season ticket that's in the South upper deck that has not donation amount attached to it. So that's a good entry point for some to get involved with the program," said Greg Hulen with UT Sports. "You know I think there's a way for everybody if they want to come to a Tennessee football game this season there's a location and a price that's the best match for them.

Hulen says it doesn't hurt to call and tell them what your family budget is, they'll work to get you inside so that all the seats are full.

Many fans said besides ticket prices, they don't want to fight traffic and parking downtown and would enjoy the game at home.
