EAST TENNESSEE (WVLT)-- If you are looking for something to do with the family this weekend there are several events in our area to enjoy.

Local 8 News Meteorologist John Carroll will be leading a weather workshop Saturday at 11am at Smart Toys and Books at the Franklin Square Shopping Plaza in West Knoxville. The workshop is for kids over five years old. He'll hang around and sign copies of his children's book "The Adventures of Robbie The Raindrop" until 1pm.

With spring just around the corner, you may be getting ready to hit the water and if you're looking for a new boat we've got just the place. The annual Downtown Knoxville Boat Show is in full swing at the Knoxville Convention Center! You can find just about anything you need to enjoy a day on the water. It's Saturday from 10am - 9pm and Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Tickets are just $7 and children 12 and under get in free.

Hundreds of runners are expected to turn out for East Tennessee Kidney Foundation's 'Lucky Kidney' run. The 6K run and 2K walk kicks off Saturday at 9am at the Krutch Park extension in downtown Knoxville. Registration is $30. Children 10 and under are free.

Second Chance Ministries will be giving young ladies hundreds of prom dresses, every color, and style. Even better, they're free! The ministry will also set up hair and make up appointments, to make them feel like queens. That's Saturday from 9am - 2pm at Rio Revolution located at 3419 East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Maryville.
