GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The winter storm turned into a big weekend for Gatlinburg, with Ober Gatlinburg having a sell out weekend.

Tuesday, the ski resort had an unexpected surge in business when they found out most Georgia school districts were still on a winter break.

"We actually had more business for a Tuesday than I really was expecting. I found out that Georgia schools have one more day of their Presidents vacation," said John Casaboom with Ober Gatlinburg. "The timing of the storm was absolutely perfect. To get a storm in the middle of the week gets people excited about skiing, they know they're going to have a great weekend."

Ober Gatlinburg says they plan on staying open through Easter with Tubing. They'll stay open longer if they have demand and enough snow on the ground.
