Lenoir City Football Coach Resigns

LENOIR CITY (WVLT) -- Lenoir City football coach Nick White has resigned after five seasons at the helm, more than a week after his team concluded an 0-10 season.

The Lenoir City coaching position was White's first. The Panthers sported a combined 1-19 record over the last two campaigns. White, who still has a teaching job at the school, says he would like to continue to coach, but is in no hurry to find another position. He said it was time to move on and for someone else to give the coaching position a shot.

White told WVLT that the Lenoir City program had caught up to the level of play in 3A, then struggled after an increase in school enrollment forced the school to play at the 4A level starting in 2005.

The team was 4-6 in its first year in Region 3-4A, then fell to 1-9 in 2006 before going winless in 2007.
