(www.outbackbowl.com) -- The SEC East Division Champion University of Tennessee accepted an invitation today to play in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day in Tampa, Florida. The No. 16 Volunteers will face No. 18 Wisconsin for only the second time in school history. Their only other meeting was in 1981.
“We are thrilled to have the Eastern Division Champion Volunteers and Coach Fulmer as the SEC representative in our game,” stated Jim McVay, Outback Bowl President /CEO. “Tennessee is an outstanding college football team and we feel our match-up with the Badgers and Volunteers will be one of the best bowl games this year. These two teams will go after each other.”
This will be Tennessee’s third appearance in the Outback Bowl game where they are 1-1. The Volunteers won 8 of their last 9 regular season games to win the SEC East Division title and earn a berth in the SEC Conference Championship game which they led into the fourth quarter.
