Spring Fling: Day-5

Murfreesboro, TN (WVLT-TV), The South Doyle baseball team was doing everything it could to try and make it's first ever trip to state a memorable one and through three days, things looked great. However, the 'Kees ran into a buzz saw Friday night in the Class-AAA title game.
The Bartlett Panthers certainly brought the aluminum, scoring early and often on South Doyle pitchers. By the 4th inning, the Panthers had built an 11-1 lead at Reese Smith Field in Murfreesboro. However, the Kee's weren't quite done. South Doyle comes up with a five run bottom have of the 4th to pull to withing five at 11-6. The Panthers, though, fired back with two more in the 6th and five runs in the 7th to win 18-7. Bartlett would belt 16 hits, also helping the cause, two Cherokees errors. South Doyle Closes out a terrific season at 35-10. The Panthers finish at 40-5 and with a 3-A championship. South Doyle head coach Robby Howard told Sports Overtime after the game that Bartlett's experience of having been there last year and losing, really helped them Friday night. Congratulations to Coach Howard and the 'Kees on a great run.
