Morristown wins Little League Softball World Series

Portland, Oregon (WVLT-TV), Congratulations to the Morristown South All Stars, 2007 Little League Softball World Series champions.
The talented group of eleven and twelve year olds from Hamblen County were matched against an equally impressive group of young ladies from Elgin, Texas.
Morristown jumped out to an early 1-0 lead and then led 2-1 in the third when Britney Turner roped a line drive into the left field corner. Her double scored Tyler Barnard all the way from first.
Morristown's lead was short lived as Elgin responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the third.
The game would stay tied until the 6th and final frame. Kirsten Honeycutt singles home Jennifer Ward and Morristown regains the lead 3-2, but would it hold?
Yes, thanks in large part to pitcher Mallory Black, who was terrific in the circle. She gives up only two runs on five hits while striking out six.
Black would get Elgin's Electra Owens to fly our to Jennifer Ward at first to end the game.
Let the celebration begin as once again, Morristown wins the 2007 LLSWS championship. Your final score, 3-2.
Tune in to Volunteer-TV Sports Overtime Thursday at six for postgame reaction. Also, be looking in this Sunday at 11:00 as the Champs visit our WVLT Studio's.
Way to go ladies!
