CTK: Anderson County Mavericks

CLINTON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- If you took in an Anderson County game a season ago, chances are you saw Matt Fox run.

And run.

And run some more.

The Maverick tailback finished 2013 with a staggering 2,415 yards. It was that strong ground attack that propelled Anderson County to an 11-2 record and a spot in the state quarterfinals.

Fox is back for 2014. However, much of the line that paved the way for those yards is not. Fox isn't concerned.

"I'm not too worried because we have guys right behind them (last year's starters) that are pretty big guys," Fox said.

"They're young, but they just didn't play last year because they were juniors."

Anderson County tight end Corey Morgan has faith in his offensive line teammates as well. He says much of the Mavericks' success will be determined by how mentally strong they are.

"We just have to be physically sound and mentally tough, too," Morgan said.

"We have to step up to the challenge because we might get down sometimes and say, 'it's over, it's over,' but we have to step up and say it's not over until the final whistle blows."

Anderson County opens up the season August 22 at home against Clinton.
