Countdown to Kickoff: Coalfield

COALFIELD, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Coalfield had a great season in 2012.

A birth in the state semi-finals.

And virtually everybody is back.

The Yellow Jackets return 18 starters, nine on offense and nine of defense, this fall.

Talking to those in Coalfield country, you get the feeling this team could be the one to deliver the school its first state title in football.

"Being a senior, I'd say, 'yea, this is our year,'" offensive lineman Benson Napier said.

"Everybody expects us to be very good this year. I like having that pressure put on you cause it makes you have to perform well, you can't take games off that usually you would because with pressure on."

Keith Henry is entering his sixth year as head coach at Coalfield. While Napier talked of pressure, Henry isn't wanting his players to view it that way.

"I hope they don't feel pressure. We try not to talk about it," Henry said.

"It's a game, a week at a time. If you're going to be the best you work to be there."

Henry expects Coalfield to be very strong up front on the offensive line. The Yellow Jackets feature lineman Zach Stewart, Tennessee commit.

Coalfield opens up the season August 23 at Copper Basin.
