Countdown to Kickoff: Loudon

LOUDON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Loudon fans can expect to see some different teams this fall.

No more Alcoa. No more Christian Academy.

Instead, its the likes of Sweetwater, McMinn Central, Sequoyah, and Polk County.

The Redskins are no longer in the tough Class AA, District 4. They'll now play in District 5.

It's a change that should help Loudon this fall.

"Our schedule eased up for us a little bit," head coach Jeff Harig said. "But at the same time, some of our young skill players that are juniors for us this year that were sophomores last year really matured and stepped it up for us."

Loudon ended the 2012 campaign winning four of its final five regular season games. The Redskins won't lack confidence as a new season nears.

"Our momentum is going to go pretty far with that," quarterback Travis Brewer said. "And most of our backfield has returned. So we've got our skill players that will bring that back."

Loudon returns six starters on both offense and defense. The Redskins open the season August 23 at home against William Blount.
