Countdown to Kickoff: Scott

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) -- For the second time in three years, Keith Shannon is the head football coach at Scott.
He replaces Tony Lambert who is now the head coach at Oneida.
Shannon was the defensive coordinator during the Highlanders run to the playoffs last season. He says defense will be a staple of his team this years team as well, "...11 hats on the football and I think that will leave a lasting impression on somebody that comes and watches our kids play defense, offensively we're really pushing the tempo and trying to make sure we're getting a set number of plays in a three minute time period in practice, so the tempo in practice and the effort and getting 11 hats defensively."
Shannon's first tour as Scott head coach was 2009, taking over for Davey Gillum who left to take over at Anderson County. Shannon's Highlanders open the season at McCreary Central in Kentucky on Friday
night August 23rd.
