Countdown to Kickoff: Seymour

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Starting strong wasn't an issue for Seymour last fall. It was the finishing part that hurt.

Seymour rocketed to a 4-0 record in 2012, only to lose six straight, and miss the playoffs.

"It left a bitter taste in your mouth after losing the last five or six games of the season after starting off so well," quarterback Nick Sexton said Monday morning. "So we are looking forward to improving this year"

Jim Moore returns for his fifth year as the Eagles' head coach.

He's confident with what Seymour brings to the field in the skill positions, but overall, he expects depth to be an challenge.

Moore says he will rely on seniors to provide leadership.

"Our senior class, you know they've got to be the leaders on the team. The way they come out to practice, the way they react in a ball game, to adverse situations, good situations, the rest of the team usually follows," Moore said.

Seymour opens up the year August 22 at Sullivan North.
