Knoxville Track Club runs 500 miles in support of Boston

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - For the Knoxville Track Club, they felt the need to do something to show their support for their fellow runners and running supporters in Boston. The group decided to use their feet Wednesday night.

"We're trying to run 268 miles for each victim of the bombings. And we've got a published list of all the victims so we can keep someone in mind,' said Lauren Chiles, Social Director for the Knoxville Track Club.

68 runners showed up to try to reach that goal of 268 miles. Included in that group was Tim Kliegl from Dandridge who finished the Boston Marathon shortly before the bombs went off. Kliegl pledged 6 miles to the cause, but said that he happily would have done more. "I'll add on. I'll do extra miles, no matter what it takes."

When the run was finished the group had completed over 500 miles, proving that those in Knoxville are willing to go the extra mile to show their support for the city of Boston.
