Lady Vol guard Kamiko Williams suffers torn ACL

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (SUBMITTED/WVLT) -- Jenny Moshak, University of Tennessee Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, announced this afternoon that Lady Vol basketball guard Kamiko Williams had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

Williams suffered the left knee injury on July 7 while playing in the Women’s Pilot Rocky Top League at the Christian Academy of Knoxville. She was driving the baseline and went in for a reverse layup when the injury occurred.

“Per our protocol, Kamiko will begin rehabilitation of her left knee immediately and we will schedule ACL reconstructive surgery accordingly,” said Moshak.

Williams, a rising 5’11” junior from Clarksville, Tenn., averaged 6.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 17.9 minutes per outing as a sophomore. She earned four starting assignments while playing all 37 games in the 2010-11 season.
