Peyton Manning pledges $500,000 to Pat Summitt Foundation

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Officials of The Pat Summitt Foundation have received notification that Peyton and Ashley Manning have committed a gift of $500,000 to support Pat Summitt and the mission of her Foundation as reported earlier today, April 6, 2013 by CBS Sports.

Other details available at this time include:

* The Mannings’ gift is the largest gift announcement made to the Pat Summitt Foundation since its founding in November 2011.

* All funds received by the Pat Summitt Foundation go toward helping fund the Foundation’s grant-making focus on advancing research for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, providing support services for patients and caregivers, and building education and public awareness.

* Peyton Manning also serves as one of the Pat Summitt Foundation’s Advisory Board’s Honorary Co-Chairs as was announced in December 2012.

* The Foundation will issue a full press release on Monday, April 8, 2013, with more information and reaction from the Foundation founders and volunteers.
