KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Sal Sunseri arrived on the UT campus late Wednesday. The Alabama linebackers coach is said to be interviewing with coach Dooley for the now vacant Tennessee defensive coordinators job. Sunseri's son Vinnie is entering his sophomore year at Bama.

Sunseri could also be in line to replace Kirby Smart as Tide defensive coordinator should Smart leave.

Navy assistant Buddy Green is also said to be visiting Tennessee on Thursday.

Last week, Justin Wilcox left UT to take the defensive coordinator job at the University of Washington.

In 2011, Sunseri helped coach a Crimson Tide unit that was number one in every major defensive category.

Sunseri joined Nick Saban's staff in 2009. Before that, he spent seven seasons in the NFL as the Carolina Panthers defensive line coach.

Sunseri played his college football at Pittsburgh, where he was an All-American linebacker.
