Sweetwater native Kippy Brown gets Super Bowl ring

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) -- While the majority of East Tennessee football fans were
rooting for Peyton Manning and the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, there
were actually five former Vols and two former UT coaches involved
in the contest.
Coming out on the positive end were defensive lineman Tony McDaniel and wide receivers coach Kippy Brown. Kippy began his football career at Sweetwater High School in Monroe county, where he helped his team win state titles in 1971 and '72.
He coached at Tennessee under Johnny Majors from 1983-'89 and returned to coach under Phillip Fulmer in 1993 and '94.
Brown was also named interim head coach of the Vols just prior to
UT's hiring of Derek Dooley.
He's also had a successful stint as an assistant coach in the NFL with the Bucs, Packers, Dolphins, Texans, Lions and now the Seahawks since 2010.
After the big win, Brown told Local8 Sports; "...we all know how great a person and player Peyton is and you hate to go up against somebody you really respect and care so much about, but we're happy, Tony McDaniel's had a great year, so we're representing Tennessee in the Northwest too."
