MAUI, HI (release) -- Despite four Vols scoring in double-figures, Tennessee lost to No. 6 Duke, 77-67 in the EA Sports Maui Invitational Quarterfinal on Monday.
Jeronne Maymon led UT with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Trae Golden (13), Jordan McRae (11) and Cameron Tatum (10) also scored in double-figures.
Tennessee (2-1) will play Memphis on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET in a game televised on ESPN2.
The Blue Devils (5-0) will play Michigan on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Duke was led by freshman Austin Rivers, who had 18 points. Seth Curry and Ryan Kelly each tallied 17.
The Vols played tight all game and trailed by just six points at halftime, 39-33, despite Golden playing just four first-half minutes due to foul trouble.
The Vols saw their streak of 461 consecutive games making a 3-pointer end as they went 0-for-8 from beyond the arc. The last time the Vols did not make a 3FG was on Feb. 1, 1997 against Wofford, when they went 0-for-16. That was a stark contrast from the first two games as UT averaged 13 treys in the first two games (26-of-53).
