LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) -Border Patrol agents seized bundles of marijuana from a vehicle that was submerged in the river over the weekend.

The incident happened on Saturday, June 20th when agents spotted several individuals loading bundles onto a blue SUV.

When agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver refused and sent them on a chase on Mines Road.

During the chase, the driver turned onto Fasken Boulevard, drove straight into the Rio Grande, and then fled to Mexico.

Agents arrived and found five bundles of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The marijuana weighed 371 pounds and had an estimated street value of $297,200.

The drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
