PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) -A structure fire has been contained at the Red Roof Mall in Pigeon Forge Monday afternoon.

According to Pigeon Forge Fire Chief Tony Watson, crews responded to a fire at the Red Roof Mall on 2828 Parkway Drive Monday around 2:05 p.m.

Multiple agencies from the county responded and contained the fire.

The business owner of Just Stop Toys&Gifts, where the fire started, told WVLT News he’s been at the Red Roof Mall for 19 years and is devastated by the loss.

He said his lone employee was working at the time, and she along with about 20 people evacuated from the area.

Many visitors and residents stopped by to check on what they call a landmark. The Red Roof Mall was the “it place” to visit in the 80′s and 90′s.

Business owners nearby said they’re still up and running.

No cause has been determined.
