KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The next two days will be fairly warm, but get ready for the chill that rushes in by Friday.

Sunshine and drier air will warm quickly for the remainder of the day. We’re back in the upper 70s, which is a little above where we should be this time of year, but it’s still fairly pleasant.

Thursday warms a bit more, likely cracking 80° for the last time in a while. The breeze picks up later in the afternoon, ahead of the next, big time cold front.

Friday's cold front brings some of the coldest air of the season.

That cold front arrives with limited rain for the first part of Friday. High temperatures will plunge nearly 20 degrees in just one day! Even as the rain and clouds move on later in the day, the damage is already done. We’ll struggle to hit 60 in spots by the afternoon.

We’re in the upper 30s for the first time since mid May in Knoxville Saturday morning. They may even be in the lower 20s by LeConte and Clingman’s Dome! If you’re a “green thumb," make plans to bring in or cover up your plants on Friday night. And make sure your pets have a nice, warm place to sleep, too!

The weather for the Vols game is gorgeous, but it’s cold. Kickoff temperatures will be in the lower 50s. We’ll wrap up the game hovering near 60 degrees. Again, the west stands may be a bit more chilly thanks to that added shade from the press box.

The weekend as a whole looks beautiful with lots of sunshine and highs mostly in the 60s.

Another strong cold blast is here on Wednesday.
