Deputies searching for suspect on the run following traffic stop

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -Officials with The Tennessee Highway Patrol are on the lookout for a suspect that reportedly fled from an attempted traffic stop Tuesday.

Around 9:23 p.m., a THP unit trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2020 Dodge Durango on I-75 south at the 120 mm for speeding and failure to maintain control of the vehicle.

According to reports, the vehicle failed to yield to emergency equipment by stopping for the trooper. The trooper then proceeded with a chase on I-75 into Anderson Co., continuing on I-75, I-40 south/west through Knox Co and continuing onto I-75 south through Loudon and Monroe County.

THP said Chattanooga THP units took over the pursuit when it went traveled into McMinn County.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later on Highway 68 in the Chattanooga District.

The suspect has not been found.

The incident is ongoing.
