SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - It’s always a cool day in Sevier County when some officers from the Sevierville Police Department spend it shopping for Christmas with a deserving child.

That’s what happened this week, and it’s not just a special treat for kids, officers enjoy participating in “Shop with a Cop,” as well.

“It’s something we look forward to every year,” said Super Sergeant Michael Maddron. “What we do is we work with the … school resources officers. We work with the school staff, school counselors, on getting kids that they feel would benefit the most from this program.”

Maddron told WVLT News that the officers have helped several kids over the last several days. “They’re getting games, some toys, and you know, shirts, pants, socks, shoes, toothbrushes.”

The program will continue in Sevier County for the next several days.
