Barnes talks team, mentors and NCAA Tourney

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - UT head coach Rick Barnes was the featured guest at the weekly Vol Calls radio program held at Calhoun’s on the River. Coach discussed several topics including his team’s disappointing home loss to Alabama last Saturday. The coach said his team’s preparation for the game was good, at least the physical part of it:

Show host and voice of the Vols Bob Kesling also asked Barnes about his mentors Wimp Sanderson and Gary Williams coming up through the coaching ranks. Rick had nothing but praise for the two and some interesting stories to tell as well:

Coach Barnes as also asked during the program about the news that the NCAA plans to hold it’s entire post-season tournament in the state of Indiana. The coach was not surprised by the move, but also has questions as to how it all might play out with a pandemic still hanging over head:

Coach Barnes and the Vols play host to Arkansas Wednesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena. Tip-Off is set for 7 O’Clock with the game to be broadcast by ESPN2.
