KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - It’s been an active week for Tennessee football players. Two have announced they’re returning and two have said they’re moving on. Earlier on Tuesday it was Junior defensive back Bryce Thompson declaring on his Instagram account that he is declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft. Now comes word from our partners at Volquest.com, that running back Ty Chandler is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

The senior from Nashville finished second in rushing to Eric Gray this season after leading the Vols in that category in 2018 and 2019. Behind Gray for next season are Jabari Small, Tee Hodge, Dee Beckwith and Len’Neth Whitehead. Tennessee also signed three talented running backs in the 2021 class. Junior College standout Tiyon Evan, 4-Star back Cody Brown as well as the speedy Jaylen Wright.

Tennessee did receive good news this week with wide receiver Velus Jones and offensive lineman Cade Mays deciding to return for one more season on Rocky Top. Whether Ty Chandler ends up remaining at Tennessee or moving on, he’ll have one year of eligibility remaining to play college football.
