Knoxville Police arrest suspect wanted on attempted murder charges

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Officials with the Knoxville Police Department said a man wanted on attempted murder charges is now in custody.

According to police, 19-year-old Joe McCaleb was wanted on numerous outstanding felony warrants. Authorities said McCaleb was wanted on four counts of attempted first-degree murder from a shooting in February.

McCaleb is accused of firing multiple shots into a vehicle on Saturday, February 20, on the 2200 block of Cityview Avenue.

The vehicle was occupied by a 33-year-old and 18-year-old woman, along with two juveniles. None of the individuals in the vehicle were hit by gunfire, police said.

On Sunday, May 16, Knoxville Police responded to the 200 block of Avenue B in an attempt to locate McCaleb.

Police said McCaleb was taken into custody and booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
