Former East Tenn. paramedic indicted, charged with sexual battery

SCOTT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -A former East Tennessee paramedic has been indicted and charged with sexual battery.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, agents began investigating allegations of sexual assault involving William Ricky Russ in Oct. 2020.

Officials say during the course of the investigation, agents determined that Russ, who was employed as a paramedic with the Scott County Ambulance Service, sexually assaulted a woman while on duty.

Russ has since been terminated.

On Monday, April 5, the Scott County Grand Jury charged Russ with two counts of Sexual Battery and two counts of False Imprisonment.

Russ turned himself in on Tuesday, April 6 and was booked into the Scott County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
