KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - LINK Scooters launched a new program in Knoxville to provide free e-scooter rides to residents headed to and from vaccination appointments.
LINK scooters operate across Knoxville, including downtown, South Knoxville, the Fort Sanders area and UT’s campus. Nearly 250 scooters can be found across the city.
“I’m thankful that so many of our community partners, employers and faith leaders throughout Knoxville are united in enthusiastically encouraging vaccinations,” Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon said. “Innovators such as LINK are finding new ways to make it easy and convenient. Not only is a $20 LINK account credit a great incentive, but what better way to practice safe outdoor social distancing than to ride an e-scooter to your clinic or pharmacy?”
To rent a LINK e-scooter, people can download the LINK app, available for both Android and iOS. The cost is $1 for unlocking and $.35 for each minute of use.
To sign up, riders can fill out an eligibility form online. Each resident headed to their vaccine appointment will have $20 credited to their account.
