A new unemployment report from the Tennessee Department of Labor shows new unemployment claims in the state rose during the week of April 3.

There were 10,847 new unemployment claims April 3, that’s an increase of 3,000 from the week before, when there was 7,598 new claims.

Continued claims have remained steady, however. The week of April 3, there were 41,505 continued unemployment claims, compared to 41,310 the week before. A continued claim is one that comes from someone who has already filed a claim and who has experienced a week of unemployment and then filed a continued claim to claim benefits for that week of unemployment.

The department’s complete unemployment report can be found here.
