KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -The University of Tennessee will not mandate the COVID vaccine for all faculty, students and staff for the upcoming school year.

The university made an announcement in January saying the vaccine would not be mandated for a variety of reasons but strongly encouraged. “In the interest of public health, we strongly encourage all faculty, students and staff to receive the vaccine as soon as they are eligible,” said the university in a release.

The UT System says it will continue to monitor COVID numbers to determine if additional measures are needed.
