Knoxville man hospitalized after ATV accident in North Cumberland

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -A Knoxville man remains in intensive care after an ATV accident in North Cumberland Thursday morning.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, officers responded to the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area on reports of a seriously injured man.

TWRA officers report around midnight on Thursday, 31-year-old Cameron Hickey of Knoxville was operating a Yamaha Kodiak 4-wheeler on Flatwoods Road near NCWMA when he hit a rock and lost control.

Officials say, Hickey was ejected from the ATV, thrown over 80 feet and knocked unconscious. A friend of the victim who was following Hickey in a sport utility vehicle witnessed the incident and dialed 911.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officers and Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and Hickey was airlifted to UT Medical Center where he remains in intensive care.

The incident is under investigation by TWRA.
