Train derails along Rutledge Pike in East Knoxville

Knoxville dispatchers told WVLT News a train derailed Friday night near a Rutledge Pike cement plant.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Multiple agencies responded to a derailed train Friday night along Rutledge Pike in East Knoxville.

Knoxville dispatchers told WVLT News a Norfolk Southern train derailed around 10 p.m. Friday night in the 5400 block of Rutledge Pike.

Crews were on the scene inspecting the area and determined there was no hazmat threat to public safety. There were no injuries reported during this incident.

“Traffic will be blocked at the railroad crossing on Ault Road and Spring Hill Road closest to Rutledge Pike for an extended period of time,” KPD said in a release.
