One person hospitalized with serious burn injuries following North Knox Co. house fire

Officials said that the home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Rural Metro fire officials said one person was hospitalized following a North Knox County house fire.

According to Rural Metro, crews responded to a reported house fire on the 4800 block of Garfield Terrace Drive around 4:40 a.m. Saturday.

When crews arrived on the scene the roof was completely engulfed in flames and the fire had spread in all directions.

Two residents self-evacuated. One was transported to a local trauma center with burn injuries. Fire officials said that person is in serious condition.

Rural Metro reported the family’s dog was saved by fire crews. One of the residents told firefighters they attempted to extinguish the flames but the fire spread too quickly.

Officials said that the home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
