One injured following multi-vehicle wreck on Norris Freeway

Multi-vehicle wreck causes part of Norris Freeway to shutdown.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -One person is injured following a multi-vehicle wreck on Norris Freeway Sunday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, officers responded to Norris Freeway at Hickory Valley Road Sunday at 2:45 p.m. on reports of a multi-vehicle wreck.

Upon arrival, officers found that a driver identified as 23-year-old Emilee Hooks was traveling north on Norris Freeway when she struck a second vehicle in the rear. Hooks failed to maintain lane of travel then striking vehicle three identified as driver 34-year-old Rocky Loy and passengers head on. Hooks and occupants in vehicle two who have not been identified came to an uncontrolled final rest in the roadway. Loy came to an uncontrolled final rest in a ditch off the roadway.

Officers reported Hooks was injured following the incident. Those occupying vehicle two, Loy and passengers in vehicle three were not injured.

THP says Hooks has been charged with Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel and Drivers to Exercise Due Care.

The incident remains under investigation.
