KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and the Childhelp Children’s Center is spreading awareness across East Tennessee.

The center planted a pinwheel garden at their Knoxville headquarters located at 623 Lindsay Place.

The garden consists of 1,130 blue pinwheels. The number of pinwheels represents every child served through the Advocacy Center in 2020.

The garden will remain up through April 30th.

Pinwheels were designated the official symbols of child abuse prevention in 2008, because they “represent the innocence and joy of childhood.
