KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A second eaglet has died at the East Tennessee State University eagle nest in Johnson City.

According to the ETSU Eagle Cams Facebook page, the eaglet died Thursday morning.

“We have no way of knowing what occurred, JC19 was lethargic yesterday and did not want to eat so we suspected a pellet needed to be cast,” according to the post stated.

According to the post, the eaglet cast a large pellet around 6:04 a.m. then appeared to be non-responsive.

This is the second eaglet that has died at the Johnson City nest. In March, JC17 fell from the nest and was pronounced dead.

One eaglet remains in the Johnson City nest.
