Former Dollywood performer wins first ACM Award

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Singer Carly Pearce won her first Academy of Country Music Award Thursday night ahead of Sunday night’s award show.

Pearce won the award along with Lee Brice for their duet Hope You’re Happy Now.” The pair shared the news on Thursday night, posting videos of themselves being surprised with the award at a press event.

Pearce got her start as a performer at Dollywood when she was a teenager. Carly Pearce was in the Country Crossroads show during the regular season and Christmas in the Smokies for the Christmas festival.

She was also a cast member at Pigeon Forge’s Country Tonite Theater.

Pearce is also up for Female Artist of the Year and Single of the Year. The Academy of Country Music Awards airs Sunday night at 8 p.m. on WVLT.
